Last summer we went on a (blended) family holiday to Broome. This photo was after a long drive and a fishing trip that was not to be, so my kids got in the mud. Then in the water. All the kids got in the water.
Just after this the snake story happened. Have you heard the snake story? We made a friend called Brian at the station we stayed at, ad when he comes to visit us I'm reminded of the snake story. Brian came to visit us last week, and we had a good laugh about pythons. GT is not a fan of the snake story, but it's funny.
Once we got the kids semi-clean in the muddy water we all headed back to the car. They were hot (it's freaking muggy up north) and I'd forgotten the bag of snacks. I'd also got the ride in Brian's ute with Brian while GT and our au pair Marina rode in with the 5 whinging kids (and no snacks). Everyone was on edge, except perhaps me and Brian. We were cool.
Loading things into the car, when suddenly GT jumped in the car and shut the door, yelling at me and all the 5 kids to "MOVE". I was trying to work out which way to move and then he was yelling "SNAKE, MOVE!!!" from INSIDE THE CAR. DOOR SHUT.
Apparently the snake touched him on the heel, which propelled him into the car. Shutting the door I guess was to stop the snake jumping into the car after him. While we were all safely outside. I caught the tail end of the snake heading off. I suspect it was a python.
There were some words later about him basically throwing me to the wolves. Later that day Brian told a story about the time he also was frightened by a snake to make everyone feel better. It can happen to anyone.
